Meet the Founder
Reneé N. Smith, LICSW
FounderI’m Reneé, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), a wife, and a mom to a busy house full of boys. But more than anything, I am someone who believes that it is never too late to change your story.
My Journey to "The Pivot"
My path to becoming a therapist wasn't a straight line. After earning my bachelor’s degree from Auburn University at Montgomery, I decided to take a gap year. I always desired to do therapy, but life decided to life and that gap year turned into a gap decade. During that decade, I worked with diverse populations in various capacities and I kept seeing the same theme-people needed more intentional time to heal and they needed someone to walk with them in the hard. The more I walked with them in the hard-the more those individuals were able to meet their goals.
My "gap decade” was a season of intentional slowing down, leaning into my family, and uncovering my true purpose. That decade taught me that life isn't about staying the course just because you're already on it—it’s about having the courage to shift when your heart says there's more. That is why I founded Pivoting with Purpose.
Who I Walk Beside
I’ve dedicated my practice to helping others navigate the "in-between" moments of life. I specialize in supporting:
New & Hopeful Parents: Navigating the emotional rollercoaster of trying to conceive and the "identity shift" of new parenthood.
Adults in Transition: Helping you find your footing when the world feels like it's changing too fast.
Families Seeking Healing: Working together to break old patterns and build a healthier future.
Life Outside the Office
When I’m not in the therapist chair, my life is beautifully loud. I’m a proud "boy mom" to three biological sons and one wonderful bonus son. Being part of a blended, busy family keeps me grounded and reminds me daily of the importance of patience, humor, and grace.
I know how scary it can be to change directions, but I also know how rewarding it is to finally move with intention. Whether you are starting a family, starting a new chapter, or trying to heal an old wound, I’m here to help you pivot with purpose.
